What is your favorite outdoor activity?
I love being outside in any season. Hiking and backpacking, cycling and paddle boarding are my favorite activities to do with family and friends.

What or who inspired you to help to help others with their health and fitness?
I belonged to a gym when I was living in Pittsburgh after grad school. There was a man there every time I went. He was a big man, but over the 2 years I was there, he lost a lot of weight and got in fantastic shape. Each time I saw him, he was doing his best - completing his sets, walking, and sweating. It wasn’t always pretty and it wasn’t easy for him. But it paid off. I loved watching his progress. Funny that I never knew his name, but his commitment was contagious and inspirational.

What do you find most rewarding working with women?
The impact! Women are amazing. The criticism we take from ourselves and others - the media, friends, family, employers - can be crippling. But a woman who has found herself, her why, her power - WOW! That woman not only betters herself but creates a ripple effect. One woman can lift up an entire family or friend group. One woman has the ability to impact so many. By helping women to find their fitness and wellness, we help others to find theirs as well, creating a tribe of positively nurturing women that go out into the world and make it better.

Offer one piece of advice for someone ready to achieve their fitness and wellness goals.
Don’t wait. When you feel motivated to make changes, don’t stop to think about it. Just go! We often loose our drive because we wait. Maybe it’s not the right time, or we don’t know what to do, or where to start. I say just start. Momentum creates energy.  Put  on your shoes and go.

What is your biggest challenge to maintaining a healthy routine and lifestyle?
My biggest challenge is adding variety to my exercise and lifestyle routine. I like what I like, but know my body and mind could benefit from other forms of exercise. I’ve said I’ll do yoga for 5 years now.

What is your favorite meal?
Besides lasagna....Bowls, bowls and more bowls. I use any protein left over from dinner and add it to a variety of vegetables. My favorite these days is warmed shaved brussel sprouts and shredded carrots. I splash with soy sauce and add my protein!

How do you balance work/school/family and your own health and fitness routine?
I’m a list maker. I write down everything I need to do for each day and try to focus on each day as it comes. If I try to focus on an entire week...it overwhelms me. When I make my list, my workout is always on it, an appointment for myself!

Offer a piece of advice for someone ready to achieve their fitness and wellness goals.
Do what you love...if the exercise... strength or cardio is something you don’t really love, then you won’t stick to it, and lets be honest...if you want results consistency is the key!

Who or what inspired you to help others with their health and fitness?
I grew up in a weight room. My dad was a middle school and high school coach. I loved learning at a young age the importance of becoming stronger and how it impacted overall wellbeing throughout life. That carried me through the last 15-20 years of learning and working with others! I love getting to meet new people, understanding their goal, and finding how I can support them, while having fun!

What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Hiking and Backcountry Backpacking

What is your biggest challenge to maintaining a healthy routine and lifestyle?
My biggest challenge is adjusting to my fluctuating full-time work schedule. I have to take time every Sunday to sit down and put in my calendar when I can be active or take time for myself as each week never looks the same. For me, putting it in my schedule is my commitment to myself to make it happen.

One piece of advice for someone read to achieve their fitness and wellness goals?
Every day or every workout is not going to be the BEST that you've ever given... and that is okay! Do what you are able to do for the day and what feels right for your body. Little successes will be more beneficial and sustainable in the long run.
